[Japanese] MIU (Miyuki Motegi) Profile 'Human voice' could touch somebody's heart sometimes as well as the sound of music. That's also what we call the power of music. Miu is the singer. A 24 years old Japanese female vocalist, gifted by distinguished voice. Once you hear her voice, you will never forget it. Growing up in a small and conservative town outside Tokyo, she was a frustrated child. It was at 18 that she finally found herself in a right place in collage where she started to be taking a lead role of an a-ca-pella chorus group and performed in streets, at events, parties etc. Decided to become a "professional singer" after all. Graduated from the collage, she spent the whole year of 2000 on making demos and doing vocal training and got signed to Toshiba EMI/Virgin. Released the indie debut single "HOPE" on Ocotber 24th 2001, written by a Scandinavian singer/song writer Solveig, sung in English. Picked up FM radios a lot. The Virgin debut single, released in January 2002, was the Japanese version of "HOPE", which has become her classic. The debut album "M.I.U."(i.e. My Inner Universe) released in April 2002, which has 13 tracks produced by several different contemporary producers. Basically Miu writes lyrics by herself to create the unique world. One of the songs was written by the Pet Shop Boys and duet with Neil Tennant. Currently doing FM radio showcases and events, just started to work on the next single and the album to be scheduled later this autumn and early next year. MIU meets the Pet Shop Boys at Fuji Rock Festival! July 27th Saturday 2002 - MIU finally met Neil and Chris who wrote the song "all or nothing" for her first album.
